The T625 GÖKBEY helicopter represents a significant achievement in Türkiye’s pursuit of defense autonomy and global strategic capabilities. Initiated by the Defense Industry Executive Committee in 2010, this helicopter program was developed to meet the diverse needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and other national authorities through a domestically engineered platform. The T625 GÖKBEY stands as a testament to Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to self-reliance in defense, utilizing national resources to enhance its strategic autonomy on the global stage.
Designed to operate in challenging environments, the GÖKBEY can perform in high altitudes, extreme temperatures, and across varying geographies, day and night. The helicopter’s design draws on the extensive expertise gained from the ATAK Program, with critical systems—structural, avionic, transmission, rotor, and landing gear—crafted entirely using national resources.
The T625 GÖKBEY is a versatile general-purpose helicopter, capable of adapting to a wide array of missions. Whether it’s transportation, VIP duties, cargo, air ambulance services, search and rescue operations, or offshore tasks, the GÖKBEY is equipped to meet various operational needs with efficiency and reliability.
The helicopter’s journey has been marked by significant milestones. The first T625 GÖKBEY completed its maiden flight on September 6, 2018, marking the beginning of a new era in Türkiye’s aviation industry. Further progress was demonstrated on April 19, 2023, when the P1 Prototype successfully achieved its first test flight powered by the National TS1400 Turboshaft Engines.
Currently, certification efforts are underway with the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to ensure compliance with international standards. As serial production begins, three GÖKBEY helicopters are scheduled for delivery to the Gendarmerie General Command, marking a significant milestone in Türkiye’s aviation history.
The T625 GÖKBEY is more than just a helicopter; it is a symbol of Türkiye’s growing defense industry and its capacity to produce high-quality, reliable systems for modern warfare and various operational needs.
