Turkiye’s defense industry roars onto the scene in Ecuador, marking a historic milestone with its first major sale! Twenty Cobra II Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles, crafted by Turkiye’s renowned Otokar, were officially delivered to Ecuadorian military authorities in a ceremony graced by President Guillermo Lasso.
Strengthening Security, One Cobra at a Time:
President Lasso, demonstrating his commitment to bolstering Ecuador’s defense capabilities, proudly shared photos of the Cobra IIs on his social media, stating, “I am happy to deliver 20 Turkish-made Cobra II vehicles to the armed forces today.”
This strategic acquisition paves the way for 15 Ural-type tactical vehicles to arrive by October’s end, further solidifying Ecuador’s defense infrastructure.
Lasso emphasized the unwavering support for the nation’s security forces, adding, “The people of Ecuador appreciate your work, we will be with you until the last day and will always support you.”
A High-Profile Ceremony:
Witnessing the handover were prominent figures like Ecuadorian Vice President Alfredo Borrero, Foreign Minister Gustavo Manrique, Defense Minister Luis Lara, and senior military officials.
Turkiye’s Ambassador to Quito, Makbule Başak Yalçın, played a crucial role in forging this partnership, receiving personal thanks from President Lasso for her dedication.
Both President Lasso and his entourage took a closer look at the Cobra IIs, expressing their confidence in their capabilities.
